Most wooden cutting boards have a secret ingredient: petroleum. Standard mineral oil is a petroleum byproduct — and it's what almost everyone uses. The Pure Sapele Board uses only organic fractionated coconut oil and organic beeswax. No petroleum. No chemicals. Just clean, food-safe ingredients.

This board starts as a single, solid slab of Sapele — an African hardwood prized for its dramatic ribbon grain. No glued pieces, no laminated strips, no hidden seams.

Sapele's ribbon grain is a natural optical phenomenon: the interlocked wood fibers catch light at different angles, creating a shimmering, almost metallic figure that shifts as you move the board. It's reddish-brown to golden, and significantly more visually striking than domestic hardwoods. Every board is genuinely one-of-a-kind — no two Sapele slabs have the same figure.
